Truth & Salvage Co. (from the album Atoms Form available on Blackbird Record Label) (by Bryant Liggett))
Well-crafted tunes backed with a sometime Southern Rock, sometime Indie Rock, sometime Jam band vibe. That’s the model for Truth & Salvage Co, their latest release Atoms Form a record that has a big Rock sound funneled through Roots Rock and singer-songwriter mindset. Truth & Salvage Co craft a song that’s loaded with big riffs, all with an ability to keep that song living on the edge of breaking into a jam, ready to take flight at any second. They keep that flight reeled in, few tunes zip over 5 minutes long, satisfying people that like the Jam without the stretched-out set.
Atoms Form kicks off with album opener “Charm City” where Truth & Salvage Co charge out of the gate with big reverb and dramatic, power chord moments and funky guitar exploration. They drop a party guitar lead in “Silver Lining”, showing they can also be a Boogie band in “Middle Island Creek” while delivering a bar-room singalong complete with barroom piano in “So Sad”. There’s a real sadness to “I’m Not Your Boyfriend” and those big, dirty riffs return for the Atoms Form title track while “Alive” has a slow, dreamy ambience as it ends on the promising phrase of ‘I am alive, for the very first time’.
With a load of delicious reverb, Truth & Salvage CO have branded their own sound. Their jams have a beginning, middle, and end, getting in and out quickly. (by Bryant Liggett)
