Jason Eady (from the album Mississippi

With a stomping swamp groove Jason Eady bids welcome to Mississippi on his recent release’s opening track, “Way Down in Mississippi”. The tune packs homegrown sounds on top of an infectious beat propelled by handclap harmonies and a mighty rhythm section. Musically, the track sets the standard for Mississippi with healthy dollops of Country Blues and Gospel Rock’n’Roll. For Jason Eady, Mississippi, his seventh album release, plays hosts to a full band accompanying him in studio for the first time in five years. Produced by Gordy Quist (The Band of Heathens), the album gives a shout out to Jason’s birthplace from his new base in Texas. Marking minutes on a non-stop beat, Jason Eady offers “Mean Time”, hops a horse hoof groove as he calls out to “Misty”, shines a harsh light on past memories with “Burn It Down”, and wraps the Folk Blues of “Mile Over 45” in thick swamp mist.

Recorded over a five-day period at Finishing School studios in Austin, Jason Eady shares his happiness for the project with his words, ‘’I can’t tell you how excited I am to get this new album out into the world. This is a passion project for me that I’ve been wanting to make for a while now. It’s an album that is all about the Mississippi groove sound that I grew up playing and listening to in Mississippi. I wrote all of the songs last year specifically for this record and when it came time to come up with a title, I couldn’t think of anything that summed it up better than simply Mississippi’. Rolling rhythms sway in “Wayside” as a bassline sets the tone for Soul as it leads the way into “Getting Even” while Mississippi shares a story for a sister city with “Once Upon in New Orleans” and Jason Eady rides a traintrack rhythm for the natural funk of “Whistle”.
