Far From Saints (from the album Far From Saints

Far From Saints (from the album Far From Saints available on Far From Saints Recordings/Ignition Records) (by Danny McCloskey)
The art of a song is what brought the trio of musicians forming Far From Saints into the studio. Music born in creative collaboration and defined by the unique sound of the players as both individuals and band members as Far From Saints open their self-titled debut with a layering of emotions through the instrumental build in “Screaming Hallelujah”. Co-lead male/female vocals are a center point in Far From Saints, the harmonies complemented by a constant stream of guitar riffs that freckle and sparkle the songs. Far From Saints puts Country Soul into the solid backbeat grounding “Let’s Turn This Back Around” while rolling rhythms carry “Own It” and hushed strums create a path for the personal accounting of “No Fool Like an Old Fool”.
The trio of musicians met on UK tour. Vocalist Kelly Jones (Stereophonics) performing solo and co-vocalist Patty Lynn and guitarist Dwight Baker opening for the dates with their band, The Wind and The Wave. Late night jams evolved into songwriting dates. With scheduling a challenge, Far From Saints set studio time for the one day off option occurring at the end of each leg of the tour. Recorded in nine days, Far From Saints introduces a band perfect for the all-inclusive embrace of Americana as the playing moves between gentle ballads (“Gonna Find What’s Killing Me”), Indie Folk Rock (“Faded Black Tattoo”), Blues Rock hammered swamp grooves (“Take It Through the Night”), and urban Country beats (“The Ride”). A reverent hum quiets the sound to open “Let the Light Shine Over You” for a story that blends Far From Saints top-shelf harmonies as they offer inspirational advice with their words.
