9/19/2026 Bloodkin (from the album Drinkin’ BlueBloodkin (from the album Drinkin’ Blue available on World Will Turn Records)
Entering a new chapter for the four-decade band, Bloodkin offer songs that dig deep into emotions; presenting a raw, personal accounting of life with Flowers & Ash, their latest release. The trials and tribulations of loss mix with the upheavals of life when frontman Eric Carter received support, both personal and musical, to continue Bloodkin. The story in “Drinkin’ Blue” references the relationship between Eric and bandmate Daniel Hutchens who passed away in 2021. The support that Daniel gave Eric when he made the decision to stop the madness and get sober is a muse, Carter recalling that ‘if my memory serves correctly, this is the first tune I wrote after rehab’. The title track shrugs and shimmers on a staccato groove as Bloodkin create friction with the Rock’n’Roll beat backing “Crystal Ball” and float on airborne melodies of “Jet Stream”. A celestial rhythm drifts like stars in a night sky around “Texas Ghost” as an historical adventure is seen from the bottom of a glass with “Whiskey in the Wild West”. The album dances a shuffle while a slow stroll carries “Like a Solid Team” as Southwest desert dust rises up in the rhythms of “But Then Again…”. The beat is a rhythmic rumble when Flowers & Ash puts a backbeat underneath its title track as a jangle of guitar chords begin Rock’n’Roll sway of “Enemy Within” while Bloodkin adopt a slow pace to wear the skin of a “Marching Band to Nowhere”.
