Recorded at Chase Park Transduction studios in Athens, GA by Ben Hackett (Patterson Hood, Craig Finn), the debut release from Hunter Morris aka Mountain of Youth blends his influences with his songwriting tendencies. A 1970’s songwriting framework creates the structure for his songs as his listening history of heartland rhythms and lo-fi garage leanings subtly informs the music. The result, Nowhere, NW is rolling rhythms, like the circular motion that consistently revolves across “Everything Falls Apart” as piano rambles spin the rhythm slower for “Until You’re Dreaming” while maintaining perfectly rounded note patterns rising like bubbles from the melody. Gentle strums are accented with guitar theatrics and random drum beats before the slow trudge of “This Lonely Home” kicks as “Automatic Days” rises up and goes low with a diverse use of sonics and sways. 
Born and raised in Georgia, Hunter Morris took to music in college, relocating to Wyoming before returning to set up operations in Athens, working as a fly-fishing guide while he helmed various musical projects. A determined groove courses underneath the handclap rhythms of the Nowhere, NW title track as a solemn hum surrounds “Only in the Wild”, wrapping around the melody like morning fog hugging the earth. The vocals of Hunter Morris are the beacon that guides Mountain of Youth. He addresses “The Invisible Boy” on an Indie Americana soundtrack while calculated strums and a distorted beat become the platform for the admissions in “I Need You More Than Life”. Hunter Morris / Mountain of Youth lazily glide on a twang-born breeze to “Tell the Truth”, the music quieting to a hush when it finds itself in a story that is heading for an exit with its confessions in “Stowaways”.
