9/19/2026 Grace Potter (from the album TrespasserGrace Potter (from the album Trespasser available on Mother Road Records/Thirty Tigers) (by Bryant Liggett)
Grace Potter’s seventh album plays like a Rock opera. Inspired by Potter’s cross-country road trips from West to East coasts, Trespasser is a Roots release where Grace Potters sings of a multitude of stories representing a multitude of people; characters you’d encounter countless times on the road. It’s also stacked with plenty of attitude and more than a little sneer. It’s a highway record that kicks off with a car turning over before a thick jangle kicks off “Main Street U.S.A.”. “Ride or Die” finds Potter digging into Cow Punk as she sings of one character unable to resist another as they make questionable choices as one of the pair holds on for dear life. Its companion cut is the sultry and lounge-heavy “Gasoline” where Potter croons about smokes, liquor, and Cole Porter. The revving engine on “Run Baby Run” gives way to an 80’s vibe cut with enough thump to kick up dust on a dance floor with “War on the Mountain”, a sultry ballad that speaks of a strong woman, and Potter proves she can belt out a Gospel tune thanks to church keys that accompany her voice. Grace Potter can do tender and tough, and she does so on Trespasser as she sings of stories from a vast American landscape.
