Conscious of the ever-present ticking of the time clock, and the mortality it announces with each click of the seconds hand, Duane Betts offers a personal sonic balm both for himself and the world at large with his recent release, Isle of Hope. The death of his father (and mentor) Dicky Betts (solo, The Allman Brothers Band) was the muse for much of the song substance on Isle of Hope. The bloodline of Southern Rock is the soundtrack for the album as Duane Betts draws the line on “Pills & Liquor” while the highway calls and the road creates the rhythms coursing underneath “Down to Houston”. A lazy groove is the constant current carrying Duane Betts “Into the Void” as “Best Wishes” gracefully sways alongside its memories.
 
The inspiration in the music connects with the intentions of Duane Betts, who shares ‘Isle of Hope is out into the world, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with y’all. I hope these songs resonate and can pull you up and into the light. Music has always been a place where we meet through our experiences in this life. A traveling tune encourages to ‘hold on tight, hands upon the wheel, no one knows how we feel’ for “Winners of War” as Isle of Hope admits ‘I can be reckless’ (“Reckless”) and makes use of persistent strums to propel it’s psychedelicized sonic ship down “Manatee River”. Duane Betts expresses “Heartache” on a slowly churning groove and gently hushes the guitar picking when he sings the praises of a July “Silver Afternoon” before exiting Isle of Hope vowing to “Keep My Hands Clean” on a raucous rhythm. (by Danny McCloskey)
