Alt Root Weekly Top Ten 9/16/2026
Fairhope, Alabama’s pride and joy, Grayson Capps has a new album. It has been nine years with since he release an recording of original material, and as a reason (possibly) he gives a clue in the album title for his upcoming (11-06-26) release, as he carries The Weight of the World into the life. Topping the Top Ten for Wednesday September 16, 2026, Grayson Capps shares his visions in “Far Away” while on her first new music since 2024’s 4xGrammy winning release, Trail of Flowers, former Lower Broadway busker Sierra Ferrell returns with multi-track 7” release. Sierra Ferrell sings of a “Pair of Dice” on our list, joining a new single from Eddie 9V, “Rock Your Baby”, that keeps the rhythms true to the George McCrae 1974 pre-Disco Disco hit with a cut from his upcoming (11-16-26) release, Down Here. Formed in Oregon and based in Colorado, Sassparilla have a new single, “Tough Faced Boys and Tattooed Girls”, Leave the Bones reimagine Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” as a reverie, and Reed Turchi offers a re-release (due 10-09-26) of his Road Ends in Water(featuring Luther Dickinson), and makes the chart with “Do for You”. India Ramey puts a Cow-Punk pulse into Ernest Tubb’s “Nails in My Coffin”. Memphis-based Jad Tariq melds Bluff City styles (Blues, Rock’n’Roll, and Rhythm & Soul) into a blender for his upcoming (09-18-26) album, Precious Company, finding a place on our list with “Poor Me”. Kentucky-born giant Alex Miller, standing tall at 6’6”, partners with Country music traditionalist 21-year-old Carson Peters to invite dancing feet in for a “Hillbilly Boogie” as Eli ‘Paperboy” Reed is joined by Swamp Dogg for the wisdom of “One Man’s Trash (Is Another’s Man Treasure)” on the Top Ten for Wednesday September 16, 2026.
