AMERICANA FEST SEPTEMBER 12 THRU 17, 2017
Over the course of nearly two decades, the Americana Music Association has built a brand organically. The AMA has gathered together a community, put Americana on the map by cementing its place in the yearly Grammy Awards celebration with the organization naming six categories specifically for the genre as Americana music elbowed its way onto charts in Billboard and other music publications. As with any underground scene, the trick was not only to expand on what the core fanbase cherished as their own but to do so without any attrition among hardcore music fans, who can be a little fickle if they feel the brand is changing too drastically. The Americana Music Association, under the leadership of Jed Hilly, has kept its core while adding to its numbers yearly. The visible understanding of how the organization has grown can be seen and heard in its yearly celebration of AmericanaFest, a show and tell that honors decades of Americana. AmericanaFest presents name acts that were a part of the style before there was even a banner to gather around as well new acts adding to the buzz. On board are artists that continue to educate the world of the music’s worth by releasing constant quality on their recordings and staying on the road, year after year, to bring the magic of live performances to cities big and small in the United States, North America, and worldwide.
In 2017, AmericanaFest will take place in Nashville, Tennessee, home to the conference/festival for its eighteen years in existence. This year, the dates are September 12 through September 17, six full days of non-stop music throughout the day and into the night as well as a full conference schedule featuring panels, seminars, and exclusive day time performances among many other activities. Pound for pound, AmericanaFest is the best option and use of time that can be spent for fulfilling your need to quality music. The event gathers together all of the talent in one spot for one week. It has become a family gathering where friends can experience new stories from audio companions that have been with them for years as well as listen to baby bands entering into the community. The host hotel for AmericanFest 2017 will be the Westin Nashville, with other accommodations available in the city as well as across the Cumberland River in East Nashville.
