In the decade since her last solo release Kelley Mickwee (The Trishas) hosted a local Austin radio show (River Girl Radio) and proudly took the stage as a Shiny Soul Sister backing Shinyribs (Kevin Russell) from 2017 through 2021. She is back with a new album, Everything Beautiful (due 09-27-24), and tops the chart as a Southern Soul “Force of Nature” for the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday August 21, 2024. Chuck Prophet, in collaboration with Cumbia band Qiensave, turn “Sugar into Water” with a cut from their upcoming (10-25-24) Wake the Dead as Paul Cauthen introduces “Sweetheart from the Trail Park” from his upcoming (10-24-24) Black on Black. Members of Chainsaw Kittens, For Love Not Lisa, and Blenderhead deliver an Alt Country powerhouse with the single “Born and Raised” while Shovels & Rope admit “I’d Be Lying” in a cut from the upcoming (09-16-24) Something Above My Head and Atlanta, Georgia’s The Double A’s mine 1960’s AM gold with their single “Killer Bees”. Devon Allman tunes his guitar to Soul Blues for “You” from his recent release Miami Moon as Colin James joins with Lucinda Williams to offer “Protection” from his upcoming (08-23-24) Chasing the Sun and The Ram sings over the lonesome desert breezes of SoCal Cosmic Country in the single “Warmth of the Fire”. A funky soulful groove helps us exit this week’s chart when songman Marc Broussard sings “Way You Shine” from his upcoming (09-27-24) Time is a Thief on the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday August 21, 2024.
