Resurrecting a song from their catalog, Shovels & Rope land in the #1 spot on the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday July 30, 2025 with “Hopes & Dreams”. To explain the reasons for updated protest song, Shovels & Rope posted to their Facebook page that ‘this is a reboot of a song we put out amidst the social and political chaos of 2017. It came out feeling like a list of complaints, which is never really the way to solve things, but letting out a little steam from time to time can be a healthy productive form of mental maintenance. Now here we are 8 years later. Unrest never sleeps. Nor should it. We thought we’d give the song a reboot because those feelings and sentiments are still very much present today. So, we removed the time stamp and winked at Springsteen instead’. “Hopes & Dreams” will appear on the upcoming release Broken Jukebox V4, and it sits alongside new music from Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram with “Bad Like Me” from his upcoming (09-26-25) album, Hard Road. Rodney Crowell, joined by Tyler Bryant, offers “The Twenty-One Song Salute (Owed to G.G. Shinn and Cleoma Falcon)” from his upcoming (08-29-25) Airline Highway while Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country sing the “Better Deal Blues” from the upcoming (08-22-25) release, Horizons.
