There are those that stay put, sticking close to home for a lifetime to honor family roots and traditions, living within the safety of family and friends. And then there are the ramblers, those women and men who look for an early exit so they can feed their wanderlust, happy to see a road ahead that promises a life filled with adventure on the journey. The second group is championed by Marcus King, backed with his band and harmonic friends Jamey Johnson and Kaitlin Butts, to deliver “Here Today”. The tune, from the upcoming (09-26-25) release Darling Blue from the Marcus King Band, lands in the #1 spot for the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday July 16, 2025. Traveling musicians have a special relationship with the white lines dotting the asphalt, and Molly Tuttle grabs a road map, tosses an old guitar in the backseat, and finds a passenger to ride shotgun in “The Highway Knows”, a cut from her upcoming (08-15-25) release So Long Little Miss Sunshine. The seven-year cycle for recording brings Neko Case back with her upcoming (09-26-25) album Neon Grey Midnight Green, offering an advance listen on the list with the single “Wreck” as Supersuckers make a suggestion to pick someone in “Volunteer” from the upcoming (10-03-25) Liquor, Women, Drugs & Killing, their twelfth album release. Due in September, Otis Gibbs delivers A Trust of Crows, making this week’s chart with “Raze” as Joelton Mayfield introduces “Speechwriter” from his upcoming (10-24-25) release Crowd Pleaser and Sugaray Rayford speaks of “How the Other Half Live” on a new single of Soul Blues boogie. Jared Dustin Griffin is here to “Howl at the Moon” with a track from his upcoming (9-26-25) album The Perseverance of Sisyphus as Jonny Miller makes an offer with “I’ll Be Your Dog”.
