The Alt Root Top Ten Songs for June 5, 2019
Picture
Riding an Indian motorcycle from its home in Springfield, Massachusetts, Chuck Hawthorne parks in the #1 spot with the bike and its rider in “Such is Life (C’est la Vie)” from his upcoming (07-26-19) release, Fire Out of Stone. On June 14, 2019, Keb’ Mo’ releases Oklahoma, and he offers an advance listen on this week’s chart with the politically-charged single, “This is My Home”. A cornerstone of Indie Rock circa late 1980’s, Chris Stamey sets sights on another genre, offering a tin pan alley take on tunes as New Songs of the 20thCentury while King Bee & The Stingers head back in time to teach Elvis’ “Hound Dog” some new tricks. Mike and the Moonpies release a two-sided single honoring past hits from their Austin hometown, and are on the list this week with their version of Fastball’s “The Way”. The Lark and the Loon use back alley jazz as a soundtrack to “Pack Your Suitcase” while Emma Hill owns the crown of “Nobody’s Baby” and J.D. and the Straight Shot show our differences as distance in “The Great Divide”. Producer Cisco Adler offers a weekend anthem with “Sunday Vibe” from his upcoming (06-14-19) release, Hippielandon the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday June 05, 2019.
