Alt Root Weekly Top Ten 03/05/2025
On their first release since their 2021 self-titled album, Watchhouse present Rituals (due 05-30-25), landing at the top of the chart with “All Around You”, a story that suggests home is wherever you are standing. The weekly Top Ten for Wednesday March 5, 2025 hears Charley Crockett tell the story of “Game I Can’t Win”, from his upcoming (03-14-25) Lonesome Drifter, produced by Charley and Shooter Jennings. The upcoming (03-14-25) release, The Last Kings of Babylon, finds a happy bunch as Jason & The Stragglers are reunited with producer Lloyd Maines, who produced their debut, Pearl Snaps, as the Red Dirt band celebrate their 25th anniversary, making this week’s list with a home-from-the-road tale, “Take Me Back to Austin”. Vicki Peterson (The Bangles, The Continental Drifters) and husband John Cowsill (The Cowsills, The Beach Boys) have an upcoming (04-12-25) debut with Long After the Fire, featuring songs from John’s late brothers, Barry and Bill Cowsill. Eric Hagen shares a sad tale with “Memories Don’t Love You Back” as Boston, Mass. Alt Country supergroup, Other Brother Daryl, offer “Watch the Trees” and Oklahoma’s The Imaginaries deliver “Wishing Well” from their upcoming 2025 release, Fever. Sarah Borges is joined by Eric Ambel and Mario Viele in “Mercy of the Moon” while Fort Frances make a promise for “Til the Wheels Fall Off” from their upcoming (04-18-25) release We Will Stop Time and Doc Fell & Co offer an audio reality check with “Dandelions” on the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday March 5, 2025.
