The Alt Root Top Ten For February 23, 2022
Picture
A three-piece band and a batch of songs that blend the music of his past with his current musical path are the fluid that fuels Lava Lamp, the upcoming (07-15-22) release from Jonah Tolchin. The groove of “Car You Drive”, on a track by Josh Flowers, and one of two covers on the album, opens the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday February 23, 2022. Shovels & Rope weigh in on “Collateral Damage, from the recently released Manticore while Colin Hay (Men at Work) offers optimism with “Love is Everywhere” from his upcoming (03-18-22) Now and the Evermore and Idaho’s Colby Acuff gives an advance listen with the title track to his upcoming (2022) Once in a Lifetime. Atlanta’s Michelle Malone debuts “Not Who I Used to Be” from her upcoming (04-22-22) release, 1977, generational songman Steve Forbert is Moving Through America (05-13-22) on his new album, on the chart with “Living the Dream”, and Leyla McCalla begins Breaking the Thermometer, her upcoming (05-16-22) release, on this week’s chart with “Vini We”. East Nashville’s Afton Wolfe is joined by Cary Hudson (Blue Mountain) when the pair cover The Faces with “Oh La La” on a new single. Nashville (by way of Australia) duo The Weeping Willows have an upcoming (03-04-22) album, You Reap What You Sow, delivering Goth Americana to the list with “House of Sin”, while Bradenton, Florida’s Have Gun, Will Travel face-off with consumerism and the American Dream with Alt Country in “Buyer’s Remorse” on a new single for the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday February 23, 2022.
