To begin the Top Ten chart for 2025 we are happy to announce an upcoming (02-25-25) release, Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams, the first Patterson Hood record in twelve years (Drive-By Truckers) on the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday January 8, 2025. Produced by Chris Funk (The Decemberists), the album partners him with Lydia Loveless on the first single, “Werewolf And a Girl” as they are joined by GA-20 “Cryin’ and Pleadin” with a cut from a future release, and Alt Country UK cornerstone’s The Mekons with a new single, “You’re Not Singing Anymore”, and a tour announcement for 2025. Santa Fe, Mexico’s Jono Manson puts a message into “Anyway We Carry On” as New Brunswick, Canadian Indie Folk duo Lost & Profound bring a somber Psychedelia to “Cut in Stone”. Out of Denton, Texas, Isaac Sloane & The Sound Brigade spin the genre-wheel with “Blow Your Cover” while Early James sings of Unspeakable Things” with a track from his upcoming (01-10-25) release, the Dan Auerbach-produced Medium Raw. Austin’s Valley Flower urge “Run Buddy” and Dave Christen a toast to the new year with tried-and-true decisions. Tania Elizabeth, fiddle player for The Avett Brothers and co-founder of The Duhks, sees the chart has run its course with “Out of Time” for the weekly Top Ten for Wednesday January 8, 2024.
