ALT ROOT TOP 50 ALBUMS OF 2022
It has been a great year for music. In the perfect world, all of the Top ten album in our list could have rested in the #1 spot. There had to be one for the top, however. The White Buffalo chose a white horse escaping black thunder clouds, sprinting into the sunlight, and in the case of the chart, a new year. The White Buffalo album title fits as well. Year of the Dark Horse is a banner to hang over a list that has seen many new names push themselves in by producing fine records. Sharing the top ten slots with The White Buffalo are Charley Crockett. S. G. Goodman, Larkin Poe, Paul Cauthen, Fantastic Negrito, Melissa Carper, Nikki Lane, The Americans, Marcus King, and Shemekia Copeland. The remainder of the list is just as inclusive with albums coming from the world of Americana, Blues, Folk, and all their hybrids.
