![]() The Texas Gentlemen (from the album Floor It!!! available on New West Records) Classy without veering into classic comparisons, the music of The Texas Gentlemen shows heritage hints of Little Feat coming through in the Soul of “Ain’t Nothing New”. The Texas Gentlemen expose the places where a lush Isaac Hayes production taps dances on Jazz/Rock fusions in “The Dark End of the Tunnel”, move “Charlie’s House” from a one-bedroom to a musical suite, and make a mash-up Country Folk and space jam with “She Won’t”. Using the album title as a starting pistol, The Texas Gentlemen take to the highway with opening cut “Veal Cutlass” ushering in a street parade welcome for Floor It!!!, the album shapeshifting sounds as the takes a drive down “Hard Rd” on psychedelic cabaret, cruises “Easy St” on ‘two scoops’ and a Country ramble, boarding the “Skyway Streetcar” for a sonic spaceflight and swaying to a heavy-handed beat leading a big band through “Sing Me to Sleep”. Exiting the album on the title track, The Texas Gentlemen put state-approved Texas Blues in the gas tank for “Floor It!!!”.
