![]() The Campfire Boys (from the album The Campfire Boys available as a self-release) Collecting an Americana landscape of sounds, The Campfire Boys put up the tent for their self-titled debut with psychedelic Folk (“I Can See”), Indie Rock (“Ground Kontrol”), Folk Rock (“State of the Union”), and jam band jams (“Task at Hand”). Rock’n’Roll struts into a Saturday night uptown with “Caribou Susie” while The Campfire Boys keep the sound dialed to Rock for the Dead-like rhythms of “Nothing Ever Changes” and the dreamscape melodies in “Say Go”. Portland, Oregon musicians Justin John (guitar) and Rich Landar (guitar) got together informally around late-night bonfires after concerts and musical events. The pair starting performing and when sequestered for the pandemic, The Campfire Boys fulfilled the pairs plan to record an album. Socially distancing and sending tracks back and forth electronically, they collected cuts. Though The Campfire Boys perform as a duo, the album contains additional touches from the multi-instrumentalists. A rolling groove is the foundation for the resume reading of “King of Contradiction” as the duo open the album with the title track, a promotional message of promises from “The Campfire Boys”.
