![]() Jimmie Vaughan from the album Baby Please Come Home available on The Last Music Company (by Bryant Liggett) Jump and boogie blues is the motif for the latest from guitar great Jimmie Vaughan. The Texas player moves all over the blues realm on his latest Baby Please Come Home, an album accentuated by his crack band and stellar guitar work. Jimmie Vaughan also handles all the vocals on Baby Please Come Home. Call it an homage record to the dudes that inspired Vaughan, as he digs into the music of Lloyd Price, Jimmy Donley, Lefty Frizzell, Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown, and more. The title track kicks off Baby Please Come Home, Jimmie Vaughan’s guitar is a star from the first note, the melody ushered along by subtle horns playing underneath. “Be My Love Dovey” is a call and response cut that shuffles along and “What’s Your Name” is has big guitar, big bounce and big horns. “Hold It” is a ripping instrumental where Jimmie Vaughan’s guitar trades off with some stellar Hammond organ work, followed by “I’m Still in Love with You” where Vaughan presents himself rubbing elbows with Frank Sinatra, the story backed by Blues all dolled as a grooving lounge song. Baby Please Come Home is a record that defies time. Somehow, Jimmie Vaughan has made a record as fresh as next week that aches of age, sounding as if he cut the tracks forty years back.
