![]() Hurricane Ruth (from the album Good Life on American Showplace Music) The crackle that opens the door to Good Life may sound like an inferno burning out of control. The sizzle comes from the guitar of Hurricane Ruth, her six-strings breathing flames on “Like Wildfire”, the album opener for her recent release, Good Life. Hurricane Ruth finds peace from the words of her momma in “What You Never Had” as she kickstarts a rumble underneath the resume she spits out for “Black Sheep”. Good Life slows its title track to simmer while it chops guitar chords to serve with “Late Night Red Wine” and makes way for a woman on a mission in “Dirty Blues”. The jukebox was a babysitter for Hurricane Ruth at her folks spot in Beardstown, Illinois, The Glendale Tavern. The musical lessons on a neon blackboard taught diversity in sounds, with Good Lifebenefitting as Hurricane Ruth incorporates Rock’n’Roll, Blues, Soul, Country, Swing, and more into her own music. Keyboards help support Hurricane Ruth with organ swells and piano rambles as she offers her own comfort for “I’ve Got Your Back”, standing tall as she strides into “Who I Am”, and hands over the crown on a slinky sway in “She’s Golden”.
