![]() Gina Sicilia (from the album Love Me Madly available on Blue Elan Records) Basking her songs in a Blue light, Gina Sicilia heats up the Soul on Love Her Madly, her ninth studio album and recent release. Produced by Cody Dickinson, with brother and fellow North Mississippi All Stars member Luther Dickinson guesting on guitar, Gina Sicilia fronts a dance band as Luther’s guitar pokes at the bouncing rhythms in “How My Dreams They Go”, his strings bending with the sad weight in “For a Little While” and snarling in the slide riffs of “Misery with You”. A Pop punch curls around the vocals of Gina Sicilia as she tugs at heartstrings with her pleas for “Fall in Love” while she becomes the steamy seductress crawling across the dangerous groove of “Give It Up”. For producer Cody Dickinson, the connection worked well with Gina Silcilia, Cody feeling that ‘our visions matched wonderfully. Philly soul meets Memphis soul with some country blues for good measure. While writing, the pop music was unexpected and totally organic. We went where the music led us’. The call of drums pounding kicks at the doors of Love Me Madly on opening track “Like the World Has Never Seen”, the percussion partnering with Gina Sicilia’s vocals for a duet. Tenderness softens the desperation of the title track for Love Me Madly while Gina Sicilia rides waves of sweet Southern Soul shouting “Hey Love”, the rider holding on for the Country Blues bounce of “Answer the Phone”, and the Soul shouter looking for an exit in “Gotta Be a Way”.
