![]() Frank Bey (from the album All My Dues Are Paid available on Nola Blue Records) Satisfied and ready to move, Frank Bey smiles, claiming the crown within his reach on the release, All My Dues Are Paid. The title track peaks through a window in time to younger days growing up in Georgia, Frank Bey admitting he has been ‘used, abused, and played but that’s all over now, all my dues are paid’ citing hurdles that now sit all behind him as he steps over snakes and proudly walks into the hard-won spotlight. A soulful Blues stands by Frank Bey as he smoothly slides into an uptown Blue Jazz to give a shout out to like-minded hearts with “Calling All Fools”, takes a moment for gratitude in “It’s a Pleasure”, hops on a fast track rhythm with his pride intact for “Never No More”, and wears a mask showing a grin in sunshine and tears fall once darkness descends on “Ha Ha in the Daytime”. Funky footsteps lead the way into All My Dues Are Paid, Frank Bey taking listeners back to the beginning on the album’s opening track, showing how the world turned dark for humans with “Idle Hands” and keeping the groove going when “One Thing Every Day” provides a DIY guide to happy. All My Dues Are Paid gives a nod to the songs of other musicians, painting Country blue on a version of George Jones’ “He Stopped Loving Her Today” and letting organ chords wrap around Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” while Frank Bey exits the album on a gospel march with John Lennon’s “Imagine”.
