Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel is highly sought after as one of the top producers of roots, rock and Americana music as well as a top session guitarist. Ambel is one of the founding members of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, The Del-Lords and The Yayhoos as well as lead player for Steve Earle and the Dukes so it's understandable that his skill as a guitarist is in demand. From his studio in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY and studios throughout the US he has produced some outstanding music from artists as diverse as Kacey Anderson, The Bottle Rockets, Blue Mountain, Chris Barron, The New Heathens, Joe Flood, Chip Robinson, Spanking Charlene and countless more. His skill as a producer is built on a vast knowledge of musical styles and a long history in the music business combined with an unbending adherence to professionialism. Alternate Root TV host Reb Landers sat down with Eric at his studio, Cowboy Technical Services to talk about his history, producing music and his perspective on the changing music industry paradigm. The Del-Lords are compiling material for a new release and the band recently played a series of shows in Spain, New York and Rhode Island, their first in over twenty years. They recently put together an EP called 'Under Construction', produced by Ambel and singer/frontman Scott Kempner. Could there be a tour looming in the distance? Eric doesn't discount the idea but admits that there are a series of things that need to be in place "before we'd do something that crazy."
