Alternate Root TV Hosts Planetary Nights

Planetary Nights use the jangle of guitars rather than spurs to ride their Alt Country songs in to Today Ain’t Too Late. The band plug in and let go, charging into songs in the same way they slice through the album’s title track, with razor sharp chords and rhythm commitment that is on board for the long haul. Today Ain’t Too Late has the emotion button set on stun. The album crackles and curves with an assured swagger, bending and shaping chords and riffs to balance their country heart with rock’n’roll attitude.

Singer/songwriter Bob McSweeney uses Planetary Nights as the musical vehicle for his music, recording three studio album releases, Elliptical Motion (2009), Live ‘n’ Untethered (2010) and Today Ain’t Too Late (2012), on the Planetary Nights label. Planetary Nights latest release, Today Ain’t Too Late was produced by American Roots/Rock veteran Eric “Roscoe” Ambel, who complemented Bob McSweeney’s lead vocals and rhythm guitars with his renowned guitar work. The music on the album was rounded out with Kelley Looney (Steve Earle) on bass, Rob Thomas (Peter Frampton) on keys and Phil Cimino (Chris Barron) on drums.

For the Alternate Root TV appearance Bob brought in his regular band, comprised of some of the hottest young players in NYC, including:

Greg McMullen - lead guitar
Rob Draghi - drums
Dan Asher - bass
Christine Tambakis - backing vocals, percussion
Nick Biello - Hammond organ

Thanks to Vic Steffens and our good friends at Horizon Music Group Studios in West Haven, CT for hosting this special taping of Planetary Nights. The band will be featured in an upcoming episode of Alternate Root TV in the late Summer but for now here's a taste of things to come! Enjoy.
