Acoustic string band Twisted Pine stretch their potential, and further the musical trajectory of both Folk and Bluegrass, with their recent release, Love Your Mind. The song cycle begins with “Start/Stop”, the band quietly plucking notes to support rich harmony. Love Your Mind was recorded in Boston, Mass with longtime collaborator Dan Cardinal co-producing the album along with the band (Kathleen Parks – fiddle and lead vocals, Dan Bui - mandolin, Chris Sartori – bass, Anh Phung – flute). Straddling the line of Pop music, Twisted Pine step from sounds of fragile Folk music, smooth old school R&B, and footstomping twang as they venture into genres from Americana to Jazz, Funk to Bluegrass.
Hyper-active notes satellite around the story of “Goosebump Feeling”, Twisted Pine revisiting the track with a milder pace in “Slow Goosebumps”. Love Your Mind delicately offers “A Beautiful Phase (90’s Song)”, heading to Southwest on a desert breeze soundscape for the opening of “Lonestar”, brightly delivering a “Tune for Donny”, and dabbing on some “Chanel Perfume” over a percolated beat. Twisted Pine cover Frank Zappa with “Peaches en Regalia”, sway to a front porch jam when they hand over “Knockout Roses”, ride a thick bass groove for “Green Flash”, and exit the album with a shout out to “Funky People”.
