A hard hit of rough and tumble Rock’n’Roll backs the tale in “The Watcher”. The song opens Yorick, the recent album release from Tom Ciurczak. The beat matches the tough story line of lost love while the frenetic rhythms ride underneath the tale in “Chameleon” as Tom Cuirczak asks “Am I MIA”, slams the pedal to the floor to cruise on “Wild One” and asks “Where Do I Belong” on pounding rhythms. Stories of the street are staged on a Rock’n’Roll backbeat in Yorick. It’s a power couple performance, particularly when charged the Dion-esque growl of Tom Ciurczak. The album’s title track is a nod to Shakespeare’s Yorick, staging the track on a hard backbeat. Jukebox delight spins “Top of the Rainbow” on a vintage Rock’n’Roll beat as a tale of intrigue drifts over “Malleus Maleficarum” as Tom Ciurczak spells out the message in “A.L.T.O.W.D.”. The songs collected in Yorick are musical short stories. Tom Ciurczak has the ability to pour pulp fiction tales into songs that become audio dramas, much like the contemporary questions popped out over the funky beats of “You’re Next”.
