3/14/2026 Tim Easton (from the album fIRESHORSETim Easton (from the album fIRESHORSE available as a self-release) (by Bryant Liggett)
The latest from Tim Easton finds the Ohio native, now Nashville resident, leading a stacked band through the stacked hits for his new record. More than a Folkie, the singer/songwriter on fIREHORSEshowcases thickness of his particular brand of Americana. Tim Easton stretches through Blues and Folk while dabbling the styles with touches of Gospel and Psychedelia. fIREHORSE is a complete showcase of the American musical landscape. A quick listen reveals a Blues current underneath the songs. The album opener “River” digs into the Trance Blues birthed in the Hill Country of North Mississippi, “Cottonfields” is front porch Acoustic Blues and “Another Good Man Gone” is a skip-along shuffle with bouncy vibes. Beyond the Blues are cuts like “Heaven & Hell” where Tim Easton drifts into gentle Folk Pop as “Son Of A Tyrant” begins on a tripped out intro, morphing into a cut that drifts and dreams. “Don’t Let Your Mind Grow Dark” follows that Blues tone while letting Easton’s ability to hang with the Alt Country crowd shine. He’s ready for the Sunday morning Roots Gospel world in “Hallelujah” and gives us all a blast of the Big Easy via some lazy piano in the bar-room-ready “Punch the Clock”. Tim Easton’s a working man’s songwriter; a musician with a load of songs and styles up his sleeve with an ability to mesh one into the other. He also throws out an hidden Easter Egg in the album title for fans of Watt, Hurley and Ed Fromohio; if you know you know, if you don’t look it up!
