The Red Clay Strays (from the album Made by These Moments

The Red Clay Strays (from the album Made by These Moments available from HYBCO Records/RCA Records) (by Danny McCloskey)
“Disaster” strikes to open Made by These Moments, the latest release from The Red Clay Strays. The track begins to roll on a rumble rhythm that chugs underneath the confessions in the storyline. The Red Clay Strays set the pace for Made by These Moments with grit and guts pouring from the openings cut, the band wearing a blend of Rock’n’Roll mixed with Southern Soul that is a flag waving high as they stride into the album. Produced by Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton) at his Cobb’s Georgia Mae studios in Savannah, GA, The Strays raise a mighty ruckus as they barrel across the release, playing like they are in-it-to-win-it. As The Red Clay Strays battle to be heard, their words fight their own wars when the album’s tales deal with loneliness, depression, and hopelessness. While the subject matter sits in the sad column, The Red Clay Strays grip each song with passionate prayers for survival, the delivery a shiny spark in a dark world of daily drama.

Soul shouting and a hefty backbeat (with a hint of second line drumming) pulls “Drowning” up to keep its head above water as The Red Clay Strays face a mess of trouble in the story. Slide guitar notes seduce as the band looks for a path into a happy heart with “Wanna Be Loved”, balancing the safety of Country Rock with blazing Honky Tonk Rock’n’Roll in “Ramblin”. Busting out of South Alabama with a vengeance, The Red Clay Strays are gathering Emerging Artist nods as the fans that get them push their online streams to over 100,000,000, spending a week at #1 on Spotify’s Viral 50 USA Playlist and six-consecutive weeks at #1 on the Americana Singles chart. Oh yeah, and they opened for The Rolling Stones in Boston, MA.

The melody hushes to begin as The Red Clay Strays admit “I’m Fine”, continuing the quiet as they put questions into a song for “No One Else Like Me”. Made by These Moments rises up on a sonic rumble to open “Devil in My Ear”, delivering a personal accounting over the soft acoustics that begin “Moments” and seeking salvation with caffeinated chord strums and handclaps of “On My Knees” (by Danny McCloskey)
