The Lucky Losers throw out some textbook Blues on their latest release. Arrival travels all the territory in the Blues realm; some ballads, some boogie, punchy horns, and sweet guitar fills are part of the game on this release that’s easy to dig in to. 
The Lucky Losers kick the record off both smart and funny when opening cut “S-C-A-M” takes a humorous jab at the non-stop flood of ways people try to take your money; from the scoundrels preying on senior citizens to that necessary cell phone we all have blowing up in our hands. “Sunday Stroller” strays from Blues to rootsy Americana with a sticky groove, “I Believe Her” is a solid and sultry ballad, “My Fathers Song” is slowed down and stretched out, a cut aching to score your slow dance, and there’s a slow bit of boogie in “Pig Iron Tough”. “Don’t Let It Slip Away” is beautiful, the keys that introduce “Misfit Kids” will have you playing air-organ, and album closer in “Ain’t the Marrying Kind” is a fun duet that’s perfect for singing along on your front porch after being over-served.
Cathy Lemons and Phil Berkowitz aka The Lucky Losers have dropped an ear-friendly release that for the Blues novice will serve as a gateway into the genre, and for the forever fan a reminder that Blues remains an American classic that’s influenced every other surrounding genre. (by Bryant Liggett)
