2/20/2026 The Infamous Stringdusters (from the album 20/20The Infamous Stringdusters (from the album 20/20 available on Americana Vibes) (by Danny McCloskey)
There is a hidden message in the album title of the recent release from The Infamous Stringdusters, 20/20. The double use of double numbers shines the light of accolades on the band as they celebrate their 20th anniversary with the 20 tracks include on the album. The mighty playing of the string band mixes with a healthy dose of observations and inspiration in the stories that come together on 20/20. Life advice comes via strong support from the band when they suggest that ‘you gotta make it count when you’re living in the red, you gotta “Hit the Nail on the Head”. The Infamous Stringdusters support nature as they extend a hand to come aboard for the adventure in “The Voyageur” while a quiet tangle of strings supports the story of a ‘dreamer running with the wind’ in “Burning Me Again” as they pick up the pace for the fast-track groove of “Looking for Something Good”. Combining their influences of personal musical choices, the members of The Infamous Stringdusters (Andy Falco-guitar, Chris Pandolfi-banjo, Andy Hall-dobro, Jeremy Garrett-fiddle, Travis Brooks-double bass) have branded the sound of Progressive Bluegrass, garnering a Grammy for Best Bluegrass band with 2017’s Laws of Gravity. The band faces fears as they suggest the best cure for bad days is to march back into life and seek a “Dry Spot in the Rain”. They remind that “Wounds Don’t Take to Healing” as they sing of love dying in a flame while 20/20 equally reminds that all actions have consequence in “Karma’s Got Your Number”. They sing the universal story of “Working Man Blues” and vow to take life “To the End of the Line”. The Infamous Stringdusters let the music do the talking for “Longclaw” bringing back locked-in harmony for the acapella glory of “Gospel 32 (Let Him Move)”. Following a tiny glimmer, 20/20 seeks the “Light at the End of the Day”, pondering mortality in “Dead Man Walking”, and crawling “Up from the Bottom” on a sturdy rhythm. The Infamous Stringdusters invite humanity to enjoy a good night with “Dancing on the Moon” and strum a toe-tapping beat for “Hard Times Ain’t That Hard Anymore” before exiting the album instrumentally championing the sweet smell of “Live Rosin”.
