Subtle Psychedelic Pop, subtle Garage Rock, and a touch of jangle and jam is all good. The Heavy Heavy have dropped in One of a Kind, a great blast of breezy old school Rock, an album that has both the 1970’s AOR vibe while also doing an ever so slight dance of AM Gold. One of a Kind is laid back and pushing forward, something for the slacker crowd and those that like a bit of aggression via a lo-fi delivery. Call this record a loaded up with fun.
There’s the pulsing and pop of the album opener “One of a Kind” that comes served up with a load of delicious reverb that rolls into “Happiness”, which is a big serving of glorious Pop with an a 60’s vibe. “Miracle Sun” is more head-nodding, skip-along Pop Rock with a slight Psychedelic bend when the guitar fills kick in, “Wild Emotion” flirts with twangy Rock, and the guitar intro on “Everything” brings things back to more Psychedelic Jam.  “Lemonade” has a summer of love feeling without pandering to trends of 1967, “Lovestruck” has heavy harmonies and is the Folkiest cut of the bunch. The Heavy Heavy close with the trippy “Salina”, and again, more great harmonies.
This record will deserve year end, top-10 recognition. The Heavy Heavy hit on all of aforementioned hint descriptors without claiming allegiance to any, One of a Kind a record that will make a sunny, bask in the sun kind of day out of any day.  (by Bryant Liggett)
