The sound of Solid Air has been curated for over forty years by Sam Page (vocals, guitar) and Allegra Broughton (vocals, acoustic/electric bass). The pair formed as a duo in 1983, filling out to a full, four-piece band in 1990. A collection of musicians back the pair on the recent Solid Air release, The West is on Fire. The songs on the album juggle rhythms and moods as a Country & Western trot defines the movement in “Countin’” while “Mighty Oaks” stands tall on a tough backbeat. “Fortune Teller” dances a stuttering beat and “Lucky That Way” shuffles along with a handful of hope.

Solid Air present a spinning wheel of sounds, the pair at the center of the band masterfully shifting styles and genres all within the branded sound of the band. West Coast venues and festivals have hosted Solid Air over the decades as well as opening for A-list performers and working with a diverse group of artists from a worldwide musical community. Assured strums open the album when a Southwest breeze moves across first cut, “Desert Town” while Solid Air travel down “Dusty Road” on a sunshine groove as The West is on Fire title track tells it’s story of environmental upheaval on determined rhythms.
