A change of name midway through a career can be a bit of a precarious proposition, especially when the band in question has garnered a steady following and a loyal fanbase long the way. Nevertheless, Silverada seems to have undergone a bit of an identity crisis of late, especially after referring to themselves as Mike and the Moonpies throughout their career….until now. The group, which consists of singer/songwriter Mike Harmeier, drummer Taylor Englert, guitarist Catlin Rutherford, bassist Omar Oyoque, and steel guitarist Zachary Moulton, had released eight albums under their former handle before deciding that the name no longer represented what the band was all about.
 
Fortunately, then, the group did more than merely adopt a new handle. They’ve complemented their rechristening with a sturdier, more authoritative sound, one that shares urgency and emotion in equal measure. Rousing barn-burning anthems such as “Radio Wave”, “Anywhere By Here”, ‘Something I’m Working On”, and 'Hell Bent For Leather” affirm that impression, while bold ballads like “Doing It Right” and “Stay By My Side” underscore their own emphatic intent as well.

Taken in tandem, Silverada’s sound comes across with an anthemic edge — Roots Rock shared with a heartland feel. As a result, Silverada makes a bold and assertive statement, with songs that make an immediate impression after only a single listen. They echo a real sense of passion and purpose, a rallying cry of sorts that will likely their live audiences waving cell phones in unison and furiously strumming air guitars while blending their voices for a series of rousing sing-alongs. Theirs is a stirring sound to say the very least, an anecdote for those that find themselves feeling listless or lethargic.

That, then, is what makes Silverada particularly precious…. and in fact, also so profound. (by Lee Zimmerman)
