Mumford & Sons (from the album Prizefighter

On album number six, Mumford & Sons kept the flame burning for the Roots music banner they have flown over their touring van for over fifteen years. Forming in 2008 London, the band has broken down barricades and conquered a Pop music world obsessed the studio perfection and electronic instrumentation. For Prizefighter, the recent release from the band, Mumford & Sons enlisted Aaron Dessner (The National) to produce the album at his Long Pond Studios as well as welcoming A-list performers into the studio to share vocals. Gracie Abrams in behind the microphone to lend her voice to “Badlands” as Gigi Perez is on board for “Icarus” and Hozier share in the story of “Rubber Band Man”. Mumford & Sons open Prizefighter with Chris Stapleton in first cut “Here”.
While notoriety can create more hurdles then open roads, Mumford & Sons have sidestepped Pop star fame by diving further into the Roots community. Live performances and non-stop touring by the band deepen the connection between band and an ever-growing audience. Playful strings and a caffeinated groove tell the tale of “Alleycat” as Prizefighter wades into full disclosure mode for “I’ll Tell You Everything” and quietly utters a request with “Stay”. Marcus Mumford juggles strings and percussion for his musical contributions in “Run Together” as stuttering guitar strings lead the way into “Begin Again” while sturdy strums lay a solid foundation that welcome additional anthemic instrumentation for the promises of “The Banjo Song”. The Prizefighter title track whispers its story as Mumford & Sons share “Conversations with My Son (Gangsters & Angels)” before exiting the album walking across the dreamscape melodies of “Clover”.
