Memories swirl against a backdrop of an anthemic rhythm as Max McNown cruises through “Azalea Place”, advising to greet life with ‘gratitude and grace’ as he walks with heavy footsteps. He senses a storm coming as he promises honesty in “Won’t Let Me Go” and reads the “Hotel Bible’ on a percolating patter of rhythm. Max McNown offers vulnerable words and music that excites the soul with his recent release, Night Diving. Hushed melodies listen quietly to the invite he proposes in “It’s Not Your Fault” while front porch strums begin the story of “Roses and Wolves” as the tale hops on a solid backbeat that cradles a goodbye.

Max McNown is a storyteller, packing a suitcase full of emotions and inspiration as he heads out into the world of Night Diving, his sophomore release; the title track watching the cycles of addiction spin. Oregon-grown, Max McNown has relocated to Nashville with his brand of Folk music that nips at the heels of Pop. He uses his words as confessions written from the heart in “Better Me for You (Brown Eyes)” and in “Love I Couldn’t Mend” he turns up the radio on an after-dark highway cruise. A musical request for downtime comes complete with fast-paced strums in “Marley” while the Night Diving title track follows a vision on haunted beats and Max McNown exits the album leaving a trail of questions to ponder with “Freezing in November – Revisited”. (by Danny McCloskey)
