Levi Foster has a croon ripe and ready to score your time on the highway. With a hint of twang, his debut, We Made Fire, stretches across the broad boundaries of Americana, a sound something the low hanging fruit grabbers of easily accessible Country can digest, while those who dig into the rougher and more under the radar side of Roots will file into their Indie, Alt Country catalog.
The album opener, “She’s in Richmond”, is a bullseye for that highway scoring soundtrack, a cut that references a ‘highway back to her’ while name-dropping familiar road-trip haunts to anyone that has spent time balling-the-jack from one side of America to the next. Levi Foster nails the ballads; “Emerald Eyes” is a weeper where his vocals are paired with the glorious vocals of Gloria Anderson, a cut that harkens old school AM Radio country. “California Gold” is a dreamer road cut once again visiting the sights of the American highway, and “Olivia” is a soulful tune shaking with reverb. Thick horns give “Josephine” a solid R&B vibe, “Frost in the Field” is a Marty Robbins-inspired song of the West, and “You Can’t Look at Me” is a hopeful cut ready for a slow dance that talks up lonely accomplishments. 
The album closer in the Richard Thompson tune “Tear Stained Letter” is a Bluegrass festival ready cut where Levi Foster’s vocals tread into scat territory, the cuts fiddle ready to pack a sawdust covered dance-floor. We Made Fire is a songwriter and bandleader with a stacked-hand band.
