Jimmy Vivino (from the album Gonna Be 2 of Those Days

Jimmy Vivino (from the album Gonna Be 2 of Those Day available on Gulf Coast Records) (by Danny McCloskey)
Stomping in to his recent release, Jimmy Vivino is joined by Joe Bonmassa to hammer both the beat and The Blues into “Blues in the 21st”. The tune kicks open the doors on Gonna Be 2 of Those Days, heading uptown for a Saturday night when Jimmy Vivino swings the Blues across the title track as Gonna Be 2 of Those Days hears “Goin’ Down Fast” rattle on a Front Porch Blues jam while the album sashays down the “Shady Side of the Street”. John Sebastian lends his harmonica to the Folk Blues of “Back Up the Country” and the rapid fire big beat of “Beware the Wolf”.

As part of the Conan O’Brien Band for thirty years, Jimmy Vivino has met, and subsequently played with, his musical heroes. His resume spans work in the music of movies, Broadway, and radio, never straying too far from his first love, The Blues. A slow rise in the melody explodes over the Rock’n’Roll claims of “Better Days Past” as a slow Blues sizzle pairs with the leisurely, deliberate crawl of “Fool’s Gold” while Jimmy Vivino traces a snaking guitar line as he recalls a repetitive phrase that has dogged his life with “Ain’t Nuthin’ Gonna Be Alright” and bounces on a Rock’n’Soul beat to announce “Ruby is Back”.  (by Danny McCloskey)
