Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus (from the album Two True Loves

Right from the beginning their recent album, Two True Loves, Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus bring a tour rider for the world as they kick things off with “I Want It All”. The cut begins the song cycle for Two True Loves, a collection of stories and observations from the pen of Jim Patton. He has a knack of scribing words that act as mirrors and signposts for the modern life we all walk through on a daily basis. Pointing fingers the pair deliver the biting kiss-off “Leave Me Alone” as they make things a bit more personal with “Why Did You Leave Me for Him” over a raucous roadhouse rhythm. A Rock’n’Roll beat questions how to deliver a resume of the past in “Caught in the Headlights” while Two True Loves makes introductions over a Folk Rock groove for “Annabelle Lee” and let the melody that welcomes “Laurence Beall” drift on a dreamy breeze.
Jim Patton and Sherry Brokus blend Folk and Americana into a perfect brew, allowing breathing room for each genre as they re-brand the sound as their own catalog. The duo has shared a microphone for over forty years, and the intuitive nature of the harmonies on Two True Loves stand testament to joining voices on stage and in the front seat traveling from show to show. Matters of the heart hold a handful of tough love in “She Doesn’t Want to See You Anymore” as memories take a sip from “That Cup of Coffee We Never Had”. Two True Hearts lets the rhythms rumble underneath “Hard Times”, spins a jukebox beat for “Local Yokels”, and kicks up dust with in the Honky Tonk Rock’n’Roll of the title track as Jim Patton and Sherry Brokus exit the album with the cinematic story of “One More Song”.
