2/8/2025 Everett Wren (from the album CascadesEverett Wren (from the album Cascades available on Everett Wren Music) (by Danny McCloskey)
Arkansas State Fiddle Champion Everett Wren relocated to Austin, Texas for a musical base, enlisting a host of local Austin talent to accompany on his recent, second album, release, Cascades. He chases ‘cascades of light’ for the honky tonk dancehall of “Tug at Stars”, keeping celestial bodies in his vision over the Rock’n’Roll backbeat of “Starlight”. Cascades speaks “Some Kind of Truth” on caffeinated beats, as it tells the story of “Fleety” on a percolating bubble of notes, faces mortality on Country Folk strums for “Weeping Willow Tree”, and urges “Find a Way Home” on a determined rhythm. His website offers a simple introduction for the producer/multi-instrumentalist, stating ‘I am Everett Wren; fiddler, singer, songwriter, and producer from Austin, Texas, and have performed all through the world over the years’. As a member of his family group and a player in multiple bands, Everett Wren peppers Cascades observations collected from the life around him, following a fiddle into the instrumental flurry of “Angie & Tim Reel” and galloping on a horse-hoof clatter across the realizations of “Ungrounded”. Cascades serves “Coffee & Jam” as it ‘conjures spirits’ with Rock’n’Roll rhythms and recalls “The Day Before” with jamming instrumentation while Everett Wren has a plan to “Banish Misfortune” armed with a Celtic fiddle ramble.
