4/5/2025 Dustin Brown (from the album Dustin Brown)Dustin Brown (from the album Back for Me on Blue Elan Records) (by Danny McCloskey)
Dipping his pen in the truth that he disseminates from the world, and its citizens, within his gaze, Dustin Brown delivers his recently released self-titled album. He offers DIY guides for living life with “Burn” and uses guitar jangle to stage a late-night off-road party on “River Road”, scribing a love letter over the rolling rumble of “Old Houses” and questioning motives in a neon-lit night out with “Baby Don’t”. The songs aka observations of Dustin Brown are included on his self-titled, second album release. Growing up on a one stoplight town, Dustin Brown was his own muse, he recalls ‘being raised running wild in the woods with just my dog and my thoughts, I feel deeply about everything. I’m a writer and a poet first, and a music creator second’. A life on the road took Dustin Brown around the globe before returning to the songwriting that helped him through a childhood in Moody, Texas. Opening Dustin Brown, guitar distortion is the soundtrack for the choices in “Skins and Shirts” as a blue-collar life accompanies Dustin when he wears the skin of a working man for “Hard Hats” as he watches smalltown USA die in “Falcon 9”. Quiet notes flicker around before “Ain’t No Love” as Dustin Brown gains strength in fantasies while “Heartless” stands tall against judgment and colors a big red the circle around the calendar date of “29th of March” for a happy memory.
