Dude Cervantes and The Panchos (from the album The Ride or Die of Dude Cervantes and the Panchos available on Blind Owl Records) (by Bryant Liggett)

There’s nothing like good old-fashioned Rock and Roll. Nothing wrong with Jazz rubbing elbows with Jam, innovation flirting with Bluegrass, getting a hot off the press delivery of Rock and Roll will be welcomed warmly. The is the embrace provided by Dude Cervantes and The Panchos, who’s latest, The Ride or Die of Dude Cervantes and the Panchos, is a live offering served up to you with some gruff velocity; its killer!
There’s the cut “Dreamers” which is a full-blown banger, where front man Daniel ‘Dude’ Cervantes leads his powerful band through some gritty, and sloppy (a compliment), Rock and Roll, a cut that comes complete with a Roger Daltrey-like yell. “Blood in the Water” is dirty psychedelia coming complete with tripped-out guitar work, leaning the band into the Punk side of Allman Brothers territory.
Dude Cervantes and The Panchos nail Santana’s “Samba Pa Ti” taking very few liberties with the original. “Everyone, Everywhere, Everything” is stoner Rock thick and “Billion Dollar Art” goes from subtle twang into full blown Jam.
This is a band that presents extended riffing without becoming a jam band. They lay it all on thick and aren’t afraid of volume or stretching out a guitar solo. An inclusivity to the R&R doctrine, Dude Cervantes and The Panchos give nods to Punk, guitar heavy Southern Rock, and the 70’s Classic Rock that laid the groundwork for Metal, Stoner and big Boogie bands. (by Bryant Liggett)
