Though a proper place for Drivin N Cryin has never been carved out in the stone tablets chronicling Rock’n’Roll history, the force in the music and the songwriter prowess of lead vocalist Kevn Kinney are the stuff of legend. Their recent release, Crushing Flowers, issues a warning and sonic life preserver with “Looks Like We’re Back Again”. An underground rumble follows the subway train story barreling across “Jesse Electric” while Drivin N Cryin offer a DIY-guide to life in “Why Don’t You Go Around?”. The band softens the instruments for the tender advice delivered in “Dead End Road” and extend a hand for a spin around the floor with “Come On and Dance”.

Mixing top-shelf storytelling with grit of Southern Rock, Drvin N Cryin have remained a Rock’n’Roll powerhouse throughout the 40-year career. The title track stomps out its story as Crushing Flowers stirs the groove to create an undertow that pulls anyone paying attention into the rhythmic pull of “Death of Me Yet”. “Mirror Mirror” swaggers and struts while “Keep the Change” never takes a breath during its forward thrust as Drivin N Cryin exit Crushing Flowerson the unbridled urgency of “Iggy Monkey”.
