The scratch of a well-used vinyl record opens Conscious Home when Dee Dasher offers “Dreamscape” as the first cut on her recent release. A percussive rumble lies deep within the song as Dee Dasher unravels the needs of a woman’s soul over a revolving rhythm. The eclectic sound of the melody is a template for Conscious Home. A tough beat defines the groove of “Out Here” as she encourages moderation on “Don’t Think”, and chases “Fireflies” on a bed of flickering notes. From her home in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, Dee Dasher delivers her reflections on the journey that she, and the rest of humanity, experience as we walk through the world with her words and music.
 
The diversity of the sounds on Conscious Home come together under the heading of Modern Folk. Dee Dasher infuses the stories with her love of the past, recreating the aesthetics of the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s with her words, supplementing the stories with a diverse accumulation of musical notes and rhythms. The slow piano march announces the “Life of a Snail” while Dee Dasher makes plans for a night alone at home in her “Bathtub” as a ticking clock becomes the rhythm in “Time’s a Killer”.
