Chris Vincent sets his sights for healing from the weekend with the sonic tonic of “Bloody Mary Monday Morning”. The track appears on his recent release, Good Crook, the collected stories of the album following his clear-eye observations. Opening the recording on a rattle of rhythm, Good Crookbegins its song cycle on the title track as Chris Vincent and The Raw Deals use an acoustic rumble for “Cows”, summons up a percussive patter for the tale of “Half Block Cadillac” and warns of “Snakes” on the hammering of thick strings. He recalls the memories of childhood’s “Skinned Knees” as he considers of adulthood. 
 
A big shout out to Gloria, Chris Vincent’s beloved guitar. The instrument plays a major role on Good Crook, and album recorded in two sessions; one portion utilizing the talents of legendary Jazz drummer Pete Vidacovich with the other piece featuring a stripped-back sound of just Chris and his guitar. A master of the slide guitar, Chris Vincent sends a shout out to the city he considers his muse in “New Orleans, My Darling” as he rides a train-track beat for “Screwdriver Keys”, the melody quieting for the questions of “Come Clean” and building back up on a stack of guitar notes into a homecoming with “What Johnny Said”. A rhythmic rumble rides underneath “Midnight After All” as Chris Vincent exits Good Crook with a modern day reading on “Catherine the Great”. (by Danny McCloskey)
