8/2/2024 Charlie Overbey (from the album In Good CompanyCharlie Overbey (from the album In Good Company available on Lone Hawk Records)
Southwest musical legend Charlie Overbey combed through decades of his songs and recordings to craft a career spanning album for his recent release, In Good Company. Charlie felt that ‘it would be a record that told my story. A record that I could be proud of and would be a legacy record for me’. In Good Company collects the tracks and doubles up on the delivery when Charlie Overbey meets up with longtime friends and musical collaborators on the tunes. Guitar slingers back Charlie as he tells his “Life of Rock’n’Roll” alongside Duane Betts with backing vocals from Eddie Spaghetti (The Supersuckers) and Taime Downe (Faster Pussycat) while Jaime Wyatt and Marcus King help tell the story of “Champagne, Cocaine, Cadillacs, and Cash”. Sarah Gayle Meech and Rami Jaffe join Charlie Overbey in penning a letter to “Dear Captain” as Jimmy Vivino helps in hammering the beat into “Just Let Me Love You”. Opening In Good Company with a borrowed quote, Charlie Overbey is the “Punk Rock Spy”, the title taken from a line of Lemmy Kilmister’s (Motorhead) who dubbed Charlie ‘a punk rock spy in the house of honky tonk’. In Good Company welcomes Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke) in for “If We Ever Get Out” as a barreling beat pounds underneath “The Innocence” with Nils Lofgren and Rami Jaffee. Exiting In Good Company, Charlie Overbey is joined by Danny B. Harvey to point fingers at “Two Minute Marvin”. Beyond musical successes, Charlie Overbey is the man behind the unique headwear of Lone Hawk Hats.
