The albums of Caleb Caudle are a cocoon, nurturing and curating his musical art by keeping what his intuition tells him works. Beginning with a 2007 release, Red Bank Road, the North Carolina foothills-based musician has delivered 8 albums, including his latest release, Heavy Thrill. With each album, Caleb Caudle has subtly finetuned a sound that has become a brand. Observations, channeled through words that are a balance of wit and wisdom, are merged with a musical palette that dabs the sound in touches of Folk, Country, and Rock’n’Roll. Heavy Thrill rests comfortably on the sound that has become a brand for Caleb Caudle.
 
As a backstory for his recent release, Caleb Caudle shared that ‘for this record, I wanted to focus on embracing the patina of life. Our plans rarely shake out the way we want them to. I’ve always dealt with anxiety of some sort, but through therapy and routines I’ve learned to navigate it the best I can. The thought of becoming a father in this world of chaos in some ways heightens that, but it’s offset by the sheer joy of welcoming a baby boy who will be full of hope, wonder and promise. Heavy Thrill is about doing the most with what you’re given and weathering the storms’.
 
Bending sounds to wrap around his songs, Caleb Caudle casts Nashville twang on a J.J Cale-era Tulsa groove for “The Ballad of Country Ham” as a gothic story drifts like a swamp haint mist as the story of “Fox Got the Chicken” slowly unravels. Heavy Thrill opens its doors with the unrepentant groove of lead track “Path of Desire”, bordering the rush of its beginnings with a softer melody blanket that can warm the cold world of the woman passing through the “Toll Booth”. Sepia-toned ambience frames the tale in “Seqouia Polaroids” as a studied note pattern ushers the exit of “Meantime”. Caleb Caudle struts confidently across the confessions of “Slow Growth” while a revolving rhythm satellites words that seek to sabotage the man detailing his mistakes in “Anxious” as the rhythmic sway of “No Show” takes an audio snapshot of the traveling life.
