Blues legends Bobby Rush and Kenny Wayne Shepherd come together in the studio with Young Fashioned Ways. Forty-four years separate the duo in age while The Blues erases the four decades in an instant when the pair come together into a territory they know well. Young Fashioned Ways opens with a question when Bobby Rush asks “Who Was That” regarding the person seen exiting his home as he entered the front door. “Young Ways” stomps onto the album as Bobby Rush lays claim to the song title, using it as a resume builder on a regimented Blues rhythm while the guitar of Kenny Wayne Shepherd stays dedicated to the riff the defines the groove. Young Fashioned Ways travels from the front porch Folk Blues of “40 Acres (How Long)”, over the Rhythm & Blues shuffle of “Long Way from Home”, and into electric buzz of “Hey Baby (What Are We Gonna Do)”.
 
The Bluesmen wrote the album together, Bobby’s words born in the riffs that Kenny played as the lyrics jotted down translated into the licks heard in the guitar work. Beginning at the end of April the pair will embark on a 27-date tour across the U.S. Young Fashioned Ways speaks of the pain words carry over the slow Blues crawl of “What She Said” as Bobby Rush suggests packing light for a getaway in “G String”. Kenny’s guitar and Bobby’s harmonica duet to lead the way into “You So Fine” while a Blues march stomps with heavy footfalls across “Make Love to You”. (by Danny McCloskey)
