The trials and tribulations of an ever-turning world get put on the backburner as Beyond 1969 ‘let the world go by’ when the fall under the spell of love in “If I Stay with You Tonight”. Blues notes wander and wind as a telephone becomes the vehicle for a booty call in “Consolation Man”. The songs are gathered together on Back to the Blues, the recent release from Beyond 1969. Headed by Blues/Rock Hall of Fame inductee Tom ‘The Suit’ Forst, Back to the Blues was captured with a live in-studio recording that backed the guitarist with Tony Delisio (bass), Jeff Bousfield (keyboards), and Bryan Caudle (percussion). The songs, written by Forst and Delisio, use a passion for the Blues, and the life it offers, as a muse. Love, loss, laughter, lust, and loneliness paint pictures on the album as “Comin’ Back to the Blues” tells the tale of world traveling as Back to the Blues finds the best love back at home. Confessions of the heart and soul pen the words for “It’s My Own Damn Fault” as Beyond 1969 admit “Feels So Good to Feel So Bad”. A Blues boogie carries “When It All Falls Down” as “Darkest Before the Dawn” cruises on a rhythmic rumble. Beyond 1969 confess “I’m Not Over You Yet” as Back to the Blues tells the tale of a mountain man forecasting doom on the dreamscape melodies of “Goin’ Down”.
