Proving that it is lonely at the top, Todd Snider sits in the peak position this week with “High, Lonesome, and Then Some”, the title track to his upcoming (10-17-25) release. He is joined on Top Ten Songs of the Week for Wednesday October 1, 2025 by Luther Dickinson, supported by Datrian Johnson (vocals) and New Memphis Colorways, with “Minglewood Blues”. The track, written by Noah Lewis and performed by his band, Cannon’s Jug Stompers, is from an upcoming (10-17-25) release from Luther Dickinson, Dead Blues Vol.1, which collects Blues songs from Bo Diddley, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Mississippi Sheiks, Willie Dixon and others that were performed and recorded for Grateful Dead shows and albums. Jeremy Pinnell sings of “Too Much Sugar” on a cut from his upcoming (10-31-25), Shooter Jennings-produced, Decades while New Orleans-based Sabine McCalla offers a new single, “Anything Without You”, from her upcoming (11-07-25) release, Don’t Call Me Baby. The Low Stakes Band stage their single, “Philadelphia” as an audio drama with both words and music as Tulsa, OK’s Church Studio partners with Red Dirt Rangers to shout out “Soul Salvation”. The Motherfunkaholx bring the Funk to underline their demand to “Stand” for your rights with a track that features George Clinton (Parliament, Funkadelic) while Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based band Ladybird fly onto this week’s list with “Famous Band”, a tune found on their upcoming (10-10-25) release, Clementine. Gritty, 70’s Country music gets a nod from Jake Owens when he shares “Dreams to Dream”, the title track to his upcoming (11-07-25) Shooter Jennings-produced album on the Top Ten Songs of the Week for Wednesday October 1, 2025.
